Linda McCartney dead at the age of 56

by Laura Rojo

As a kid, the music that stole my heart forever belonged to four lads from Liverpool who change the world of music forever. All my life, their music has helped me to go through the good times and the bad times. I have cried and mourned along with them when life has run its course.

As a Beatle fan, the news of Linda McCartney's death upset me. This was the beloved wife of Paul, the person who made him happy for the last 30+ years. My prayers and thoughts go to him and their kids. They have some tough times ahead, but they have each other and their memories and love for Linda. The best way to honor her is to keep her alive in their memories and thoughts, and continue her work.

As a believer of animal rights, I can only feel sad because the world has lost a very strong advocate who voiced her concerns about animal abuses. Hopefully, many will continue her work and will take notice of some of her concerns.

As a survivor of breast cancer, her death reminds me of how fragile our lives are, and how we need to enjoy the present, because the future may not happen.
I have been really lucky, and have been in recession for the last 8 years. I don't know how long I have to live (not that many people know), but I plan to enjoy my life regardless. Still, whenever the subject comes up in a conversation, I don't get tired of telling people to practice monthly breast self-examinations. Linda's death may prompt other women to seek help and advise on how to prevent and battle breast cancer. People need to remember not to be afraid of finding out, it is better than hiding away from the truth and
let precious time pass by.

Reports have stated that instead of sending flowers, people should give a donation to charities involved in cancer research or animal welfare, "or --
best of all -- the tribute that Linda herself would like best:
Go veggie."
