David Lee Garza @ Tejano Ranch

Capitol City A&E Magazine caught David Lee Garza at Tejano Ranch in Austin, after a concert last October. He was kind enough to talk to us for a few minutes.

Capitol City: What was your inspiration to be in music?
David Lee Garza: My dad, Tony Garza was a musician for forty years.

Who were your role models?
------- - - ---
Adolfo Garza, my dad's uncle. He taught him how to play the guitar.

How long have you been playing?
------- - - ---
I've been playing for 29 years. I'm not tired of it. I've always wanted to be in music.

What's on for the future?
------- - - ---
We've got a new CD, Tejano Class, coming out on October 17, 1996. We are going to be traveling to California, Florida, Illinois and Minnesota.

How much longer do you intend to keep playing?
------- - - ---
As long as the Good Lord will let us keep playing and the people keep coming out to see us.

How did you like doing videos?
------- - - ---
It's a long process. It's hard to believe that it takes about 10 hours to do a four minute video.

How has Tejano Music changed since you started playing?
------- - - ---
Our singing is accepted more by the younger people since we started. When we first started, it was mostly older people, but now the younger people are keeping our music alive. I'd like to thank our loyal fans from Austin for all their support throughout the years.
